two flat skunks

dead stuff / summer solstice (tanka and haiku with envoi)

yesterday i spied
many dead animaloids
whirred by at some speed
‘bout 14 miles fast—
i hope to see less today…

a rash of squirrels—
white bone and feather blue jay
its blue crest intact

a spattering of chipmunk—
smelled, saw, two flat skunks—
a pigeon who’d felt better—

as i ran away again
on this fine summer solstice

What I’m Listening To:

“Drowning here in Summer’s Cauldron
Under mats of flower lava
Please don’t pull me out
This is how I would want to go”

— XTC / “Summer’s Cauldron”

About istsfor manity

i'm a truncated word-person looking for an assemblage of extracted teeth in a tent full of mosquitoes (and currently writing a novel without writing a novel word) and pulling nothing but the difficult out of the top hat while the bunny munches grass in the hallway. you might say: i’m thee asynchronous voice over in search of a film....
